I have traveled to over 50 countries on seven continents, more than half of which were visited solo. I love traveling, being outdoors, and hiking. I hope to inspire others to travel and explore further, even if that means going alone.

Hallstatt is such an adorable destination and the views are seriously postcard-worthy! With its increasing popularity, I highly recommend booking your stay in Hallstatt well in advance. You don’t want to get stuck with extremely high accommodation prices.
A couple of days spent wandering around Hallstatt will provide you with plenty of opportunities for picture-perfect shots of some stunning views. Make sure these classic ones are on your list so they don’t slip through your lens!
Check out Marktplatz. Marktplatz is a vibrant little square with brightly colored buildings and lush greenery! If you’re looking for an awesome photo-op without the crowds, get there before 7:30am. You’ll be able to capture it empty and quietly enjoy its beauty.
Going off the beaten path can be so rewarding. Head up Müllerstiege, an Austrian street cascading with stairs from Oberer Marketplatz.
You will find yourself approaching one long flight of stairs that leads to a tiny apartment, but keep walking! There is a second set of stairs with even more magnificent views of the scenic town of Hallstatt.
Visit this street early in the morning to have it to yourself in the morning sunlight. I can confirm it is definitely worth getting out bed for!
If you’re searching for the perfect picture opportunity, then you’ll want to visit “Viewpoint Hallstatt” as it is labeled on Google Maps. This spot is so popular that it’s become one of Instagram’s most photographed locations. Arrive early so you don’t miss your chance at an awesome shot, with limited competition from the day tours.
Make your way up the mountain by heading up to Hallstatt’s World Heritage View Skywalk, Hallstatt’s highest viewpoint!
You can either take a funicular or an hour-long hike to reach this destination. If you decide to grab a seat in the cable car, make sure you get there early because it tends to get busy quickly. I made that mistake and got stuck in a queue for over an hour! If you plan to hike up, make sure you have all the day hiking essentials you’ll need.
When you arrive at the top of the funicular, ascend further by taking a set of stairs or hopping into an elevator to reach the viewpoint with beautiful, aerial views. Keep in mind, that there will likely be a line for pictures at the point where the skywalk jets out the furthest.
Lastly, don’t forget, 15 minutes away there is another exciting experience. You can actually slide through one of Europe’s oldest salt mines! Just make sure to get back to the funicular before 4:30pm, otherwise you might find yourself taking that scenic hike down the mountain.
For other European viewpoints not to miss, check out Only Two Days in Lake Bled, Slovenia.
